Denver, CO - Trigon, LLC announces J. Richard Powell, Founder and current President, will be transitioning to Chairman and Senior Advisor after a very successful 30 years in the oil and gas industry. Powell will remain active in the company and a member of the executive management team. "As the company moves ahead with new leadership, I fully expect the next 20 years to be as successful as the first 20 years", said Mr. Powell.

Powell will be succeeded by Mark V. Smith, a partner and member of the executive team currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer. "Over the past 20 years, Richard's excellent strategy and leadership have produced nothing short of success for this company. His vision and ability to train a team to fill his shoes are unique in this industry. We will be proud to live up to his example," says Smith.

Smith will assume the role as President on Aug 1. Stuart L. Asselin, Vice President of Business Development, and Neil P. Stockholm, Vice President of Engineering & Project Management, who are also partners in Trigon, will continue in their present roles with the executive management team.

Mark Smith was appointed Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1998. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver and has been with Trigon for over 12 years. As Chief Operating officer he was responsible for all business, financial and administrative functions of the company. Prior to this position, Mark was General Manager of the Company's San Juan Regional office where he was responsible for all work performed in the Farmington, NM and the Roswell, NM offices.

As Founder and President of Trigon, Mr. Powell's accomplishments with the company have made it a leading engineering firm in the oil & gas industry and have also successfully transitioned Trigon into an up and coming player in the booming telecommunications engineering marketplace. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a Registered Professional Engineer in multiple states. Prior to forming Trigon in 1982, Mr. Powell was Vice President of Gathering and Trucking Operation for Western Crude Oil/Getty Pipeline Co. He had previously held the position of Manager of Projects at Gulf Interstate Engineering and Senior Engineer at Shell Pipeline Corp.
