4/1/06 :: TRIGON SPONSORS ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS PROGRAM AT FORT LEWIS COLLEGE
Durango, CO - Trigon EPC is proud to be a corporate sponsor of the Fort Lewis College Engineers without Borders on the Mae Yan Min, Thailand Project during 2005 and 2006. This project includes work in two neighboring Thai Luhu villages, Huai Houk and Mae Yan Min, which share a proposed common water source. The project scope includes construction of a water system for Mae Yang Min and the addition of classrooms to the school that serves both Huai Houk and Mae Yan Min.
Engineers Without Borders is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve the quality of life through knowledge and resources. The program focuses on the areas such as water supply and sanitation, food production and processing, housing and construction, energy, transportation and communication, income generation, and employment creation. This partnership involves the implementation of various engineering projects in developing communities, while involving and training internationally responsible engineers and engineering students. The Fort Lewis College Engineers Without Borders Program promotes a new way of thinking for students in the engineering profession and provides the unique opportunity for engineers to work in partnership with communities, social scientists, public health officials, economists, businesses, and international development organizations.
